Link Farm – aka free-for-all (FFA)

Link Farm – aka free-for-all (FFA) – Link exchange programs that are deemed by the search engines to have no value to the Internet user. Allegedly, their sole purpose is to manipulate the search engine rankings. The sites feature links in no particular order which are unrelated to each other. Linking to these sites may be considered a “recommendation” by your site. This may draw a penalty from the search engines. It is believed that incoming links do not cause penalties, since a competitor could do that to hurt a site.
